This setting of the evening canticles (Magnificat & Nunc Dimittis) is composed for three-part, unaccompanied choir (alto, tenor, bass).

The Magnificat was originally composed for the Choir of Magdalen College, Oxford and first performed at Magdalen Chapel in 1995, directed by Bill Ives.

The Nunc Dimittis was written in 1999 and performed by the choir thereafter. The complete setting subsequently entered the repertoire of other cathedral choirs in the UK, such as St Paul’s Cathedral, Wells Cathedral, St Mary’s Edinburgh and New College, Oxford.
